Alternative to Paseo

Podium tracks shared tasks. Paseo puts agents on your phone and desktop.

Both run coding agents on machines you control. Ask a Podium agent to coordinate a change through shared issues and dependencies. Choose Paseo for native phone and desktop apps, a broad agent catalog, and runs started by schedules or team events.

Choose Podium if…

  • You want editable task briefs and dependencies that show what each task waits for.
  • You want screenshots and documents kept on the task after its session ends.

Choose Paseo if…

  • You want native phone apps and desktop apps for macOS, Windows or Linux.
  • You want agents started by a schedule or by GitHub, Slack or Discord events.
  • You want a wider choice of agents, with native integrations and about 35 more available through ACP.

Follow one feature through both tools

Say you're adding conditional questions to Folio, a form builder, while agents work on its editor, publishing and response collection.

  1. Step 1: Decide what must happen first

    Podium

Discuss the conditional-question behavior with your agent and ask it to organize the work. It can create a task that waits for the editor and publishing tasks, with a brief that you can return to and edit as the requirements change.

    Paseo

Open a workspace for the conditional-question change and start a conversation with an agent. You can choose a plan mode through the CLI; its timeline stays available when you close the agent and resume it later.

  2. Step 2: Give parallel changes their own space

    Podium

The editor and publishing work can run in separate issue worktrees while the conditional-question task waits on its blockers. The board shows the blocked task alongside the stages and agent states of the other work.

    Paseo

Create separate worktree workspaces for edits that should not share files, then run their agents concurrently. If two agents need to work in the same checkout, put them in one workspace; its sessions share files, terminals and browser tabs.

  3. Step 3: Continue away from your desk

    Podium

To continue Folio work away from your laptop, run its agents on a Linux VPS that you set up and maintain. Closing your laptop leaves those remote sessions on the host; reconnect from a browser, including on your phone, to continue the conversation.

    Paseo

Run the Paseo daemon on a machine that stays on, then open the same workspace from Paseo's iOS or Android app. The daemon owns the running agents, so closing the client doesn't stop them.

  4. Step 4: Check the change before merging

    Podium

Ask the agent to attach the Folio prototype and screenshots to the task and present a review offer. Inspect the Git diff and delivered files, then accept the work or send feedback. Attachments remain on the issue after the session or worktree is gone.

    Paseo

In the desktop app, open Changes to inspect the workspace diff, and use a built-in browser tab to try the updated form. Paseo can draft pull-request text from the diff and show linked PR checks; you or your agent handle Git actions.

Where Paseo is the better pick

  • A native app on your phone

Choose Paseo when your phone is a regular place to work. Its iOS and Android apps give you access to agents, files, terminals and diffs in the environment on your daemon host.

  • A desktop app across operating systems

Choose Paseo if you work on Windows or Linux machines. It has desktop apps for both, as well as macOS.

  • Agents that start on schedules or team events

Paseo schedules start agents on a cron cadence. Paseo Hub is a trigger service that starts runs on your own daemons from GitHub, Slack and Discord activity; its hosted Free plan includes 50 runs a month.

Trying both

Pick a small change in your own repository. Podium separates issue work into worktrees; Paseo offers worktree workspaces too. Keep each trial in its own worktree so the agents are not editing the same checkout.

Keep using your Claude or ChatGPT/Codex login, or supported API keys. Authenticate the agent on the host where you want it to run.

Start the trial with a fresh task. Podium keeps issue records and their attachments; Paseo retains agent sessions and timelines. A transfer of those records between the products is not documented.

Questions you might have

Do I need to run several agents?
You can begin with one conversation and ask for coordination when the change grows. Podium can keep an issue without starting an agent, then start its work when you are ready.
Does Paseo Hub provide the machine?
Hub sends work to a registered daemon on a machine you operate. Keep that machine available and configure its provider accounts; the hosted Hub subscription covers the trigger service.
Do the free apps include model usage?
Your provider account still pays for the agents. Podium is free to download, and the Paseo app, daemon and CLI are free; running either on a VPS also leaves the machine cost with you.
Which coding agents can I run?
Podium runs Claude Code, Codex, Grok, OpenCode, Cursor and Pi. Paseo offers native integrations plus ACP and custom providers; install and authenticate the agent CLI on the host.

Written by Podium from public documentation and source code. This is a documentation comparison, not a hands-on benchmark. Folio is a fictional example. Product captures come from podium.do and the Paseo website repository. Not documented marks a recorded evidence gap, not proof that a feature is absent. Podium sources were checked on 9 October 2026; Paseo sources on 8 and 9 October. A separate agent reviewed the evidence.
