Alternative to Claude Code

Claude Code keeps session history. Podium keeps the tasks those sessions share.

Podium launches the Claude Code you already have, with your login. In the terminal, each conversation has its own transcript. In Podium, you ask an agent to coordinate, and it records the tasks, what they wait on and their results in issues you both see.

Choose Podium if…

  • You want prototypes and check notes kept on the task after the session ends.
  • You run Claude Code alongside Codex, OpenCode or Cursor and want them on one board.
  • Your tasks wait on each other, and you want those links kept between sessions.

Choose Claude Code if…

  • You want to prompt Claude directly in any directory.
  • You need piped prompts and JSON output for scripts.
  • You have Pro, Max, Team or an eligible Enterprise seat and want cloud sessions without a server to maintain.
  • You work on Windows; the CLI supports Windows 10 version 1809 and later.

Add conditional questions to Folio

Say you are adding follow-up questions to Folio's form builder while the editor, publishing and response collection are already being built.

  1. Step 1: Decide what must happen first

    Podium

Ask your coordinator to fit conditional questions into the plan. It can create an issue for the change, link it to the editor and publishing tasks as blockers, and make the final journey check depend on it.

Podium capture Folio demo: a request becomes a task with dependencies. podium.do

    Claude Code

Start in Plan mode and ask Claude to examine how the form editor and published form should handle the new question. Review its proposed approach before allowing edits, and save the plan in the repository if you want to use it in a later session.

  2. Step 2: Give each change room to run

    Podium

Ask the coordinator to delegate the independent parts to Claude Code sessions on their own issues. Each issue gets a branch and worktree, while the board keeps the conditional-question task and its blockers alongside the work already running.

Podium capture Folio demo: blocked tasks beside three implementation tasks with agents working. podium.do

    Claude Code

Keep the feature in your terminal conversation and ask a subagent to investigate a separate part, such as the existing response format. For independent edits, open another Claude Code session in a worktree.

  3. Step 3: Return to the work

    Podium

Reopen Podium and inspect the task's current state and dependencies before choosing which session to open. You can switch that session between Chat and its native CLI, then tell the agent what needs to change in the conditional-question behavior.

    Claude Code

Use /resume to reopen the conversation where you discussed the change, or --continue for the latest session in the directory. The local transcript restores the conversation so you can pick up the implementation and send another prompt.

  4. Step 4: Check the finished form

    Podium

Ask the agent to attach the Folio prototype and check notes to the journey-check task and post a review offer. Those files remain on the task after the session ends; use the offer to accept the work or request changes.

Podium capture Folio demo: the review task holds the prototype and check notes. podium.do

    Claude Code

Inspect the working-tree changes with /diff and ask Claude to run the form tests before creating a pull request. When you return to that PR later, --from-pr opens its linked sessions, keeping the implementation conversation available for follow-up work.

Where the terminal is the better pick

  • Starting with the folder you have

For a change you can handle in one conversation, run claude in the folder and begin. It works in non-Git directories too, including notes and documentation folders.

  • Fitting Claude into a script

Use claude -p to send a prompt without opening an interactive conversation, and request JSON output for the next command to consume.

  • No server to look after

With Pro, Max, Team or an eligible Enterprise seat, start a session using claude --cloud on an Anthropic-managed VM. It keeps working after you disconnect, with no separate compute charge; usage counts against your subscription limits.

Trying both with your Claude login

Start with the Git repository you already use with Claude Code. Install Podium, register that repository, and select the detected Claude Code harness with its existing native login; your Claude subscription supplies the agent usage, subject to your provider's limits.

Try one issue with two dependent pieces of work and ask the agent to coordinate them. Podium creates its own issue records and worktrees for the trial, while Claude Code can still be launched directly in your terminal.

Questions you might have

Am I replacing Claude Code?
No. Podium launches the installed Claude Code CLI and uses its native authentication. You are choosing how to organize and supervise those sessions.
Can Claude Code already do parallel work?
Yes. You can run several terminal sessions in separate worktrees, and subagents can work alongside the main conversation. In either tool, sessions on your Claude login draw from the same subscription limits.
Will work continue when I close my laptop?
Podium agents on a VPS you maintain can continue, as can Claude Code cloud sessions started with claude --cloud on Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise premium or Chat + Claude Code seats. Local sessions in either tool need their machine to stay on. Closing a Podium browser tab does not stop the agent process on a running host.
